but the blog is my focus and this focus will dwell on su friedrich. i first learned of ms. friedrich in dr. kruell's class last semester and just found out that the library had a copy of her film, sink or swim. this is a must see for many reasons, the first is she uses many different elements in her films. the most engaging i remember was the use of a typewriter to recall a memory and the entire sequence was filmed in real time as she slowly and deliberately and perfectly (no mistakes) typed out the flashback. it was very powerful and totally sucked you in. the alternative and experimental side of documentary intrigues me and i hope to apply my own little elements in my own future films. go see sink or swim!
